The Gold Brewer's Seal is a certified award in one of the oldest and one of the most prestigious brewing competitions on the European continent. The Gold Brewer's Seal is a set of annual international awards bestowed in a number of beer-style categories. The winners and medalists in the individual brewery categories will get a chance to compete for the Major award. The process of quality assessment is strictly anonymous and under the supervision of renowned certification authorities (Bureau Veritas, TÜV SÜD)

Our ambition is to help consumers become familiar with the brewery market, raise public awareness, as well as help quality producers to gain well-deserved publicity.

In 2017, 222 breweries from almost twenty countries from East Asia all the way to the American continent signed up for the Gold Brewer's Seal tasting competition. In 31 specialized beer-style categories there were 1007 lagers, ales, stouts, porters, wheat beers and other beer specials competing for the titles. More than 90 medals were distributed.

There are eight categories reserved specially for microbreweries (producing up to maximum of 10 000 hl a year). The other categories are open to all producers regardless of their production volume. There are also two categories for ciders.

Professional tastings in the categories listed in the enclosed specification will take place in premises of Hotel Malý pivovar in České Budějovice from 12th – 16th February 2018. The process of quality assessment is strictly anonymous and under the supervision of renowned certification authorities (Bureau Veritas, TÜV SÜD, 3EC International, Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority, ), with the participation of qualified experts and brewery professionals from the Czech Republic and abroad. The objectivity of the results is secured by a multi-round evaluation system. The assessed attributes are: taste, smell, fullness, bitterness and mouthfeel.

Participants can nominate their own representative to be a member of the tasting jury. For professional tasting it is necessary to produce a sample of 8 litres (for each registered brand and type) in glass or plastic, no later than 48 hours before tasting. The fee per each registered sample is 30 Euro. Payment can be made either in advance by bank transfer or in cash before the tasting. The fee is free of charge for two samples for newly arrived participants.
The winners and medalists in the individual brewery categories will get a chance to compete for the Major award – WORLD BEER SEAL 2018 - and they will be awarded at the ceremony during the International Beer Festival in České Budějovice.
